Does Waking and Baking Really Kill Your Potential for the Day?

Waking and baking is commonly associated with a negative stereotype, and many use the term to describe something that is pretty much setting your day up for failure. And while that may be the case for some, it’s definitely not universal. Many have been able to get by just fine while smoking regularly through the day, and that even includes early in the morning. It’s all about what your motivations are and how you handle yourself after smoking.

Everyone Handles It Differently

Different people handle marijuana in their own unique ways, and sometimes smoking early in the morning might be just what you need to get a good start in your day. For some, the extra kick can be quite motivating and can actually push them even more strongly to get their things done. Of course, everything within its sensible limits – it’s probably not a good idea to start the day with several massive bowls if you actually expect to get anything done later on. As long as you’re in control of how much you’re smoking though, that’s all that matters.

Are Your Priorities in Order?

The other important thing is what you decide to do after smoking. Obviously, kicking back and relaxing is not a very productive mindset, especially that early in the day. If that’s the kind of train of thought that smoking leads you to, then maybe you are better off not starting your day with it. But if you’re like the people we mentioned above and you find yourself even more motivated to do your tasks and have a productive day, then it’s obviously something that doesn’t have such a negative impact on you. In fact, some have even found it helpful to smoke early on so they can be more focused on their tasks during the day.

It’s also important to note that if your daily work involves anything that could hurt you or other people, starting with a smoke is clearly very irresponsible and should not be a factor in your weekdays at all. This should go without saying for anyone, but you’d be surprised how often you’d meet people who simply don’t care enough.

It Shouldn’t Become a Habit

Another point to watch out for is how often this happens. If you need to do it absolutely every day, then you may have a problem on your hands. Not necessarily one that will harm you actively, mind you – but the fact that you can’t break the habit that easily should be a worrying indicator that something isn’t right. If you feel like things are moving in that direction, then you definitely need to take a step back and re-evaluate what you’re currently doing.

A Break Can’t Hurt

On that note, have you considered taking a break? This can be very refreshing if you haven’t done it in a while, and it can give you a new perspective on the way marijuana impacts you. You might discover that some of your days actually start off better when you don’t smoke first thing after waking up. Or, you might confirm your suspicions that this is something beneficial to you. The important thing is that you give it a try before jumping to any conclusions. But it’s a fact that most active smokers tend to find the occasional break a very refreshing period during which they might even question their approach to smoking in general.

Reducing the Amount

Another thing to try is to smoke less on average. There is usually a point where you can still get the desired effect, but don’t have to sacrifice your productivity or concentration by smoking too much. Getting that right will depend on your individual body and the way you normally smoke, as well as how much you’re used to smoking in general. But try giving gradual reductions a chance, and you might soon discover that you’ve been smoking too much in those early sessions. It’s not rare to realize that cutting the amount by some degree can actually feel more pleasant, especially if you’re trying to kickstart your day with it.

Coffee and Other Stimulants

Marijuana and coffee may be a good mix for some, but it’s definitely something you need to be careful with. They can both increase your heart rate, and can have other compounding effects as well. If you’ve suffered from panic attacks, this is also something to watch out for. However, as long as you don’t overdo it, these can actually be quite the nice mix that can help you get your day started in a more energetic manner. The important thing is moderation.

In the end, waking and baking is a highly individual thing and it can definitely work well for some, while it can mess with others more than it’s worth dealing with. You need to determine for yourself whether this is a good choice, and you’re going to have to do some experimentation to get to that point.
